So Hero Siege has a patch out of nowhere, and it comes with a lot of changes to the core gameplay. The patch notes aren’t large, but if you haven’t read them I’ll list the core changes.
Mana – Skills now cost mana. This is a huge change, meaning you can’t just rely on skills with good cooldowns anymore. Also skills do still have cooldowns. So now you have to deal with that also.
Attack Speed – Attack speed is now attached to weapons. No longer can you pump attack speed to places that basically break the game. These two changes are the ones that have really hit people the most.
Gold – Gold is account bound now. So you keep your hard earned coins even if you die or beat the game.
Inventory – There’s a whole new item inventory built into the game now. You can pick up items and store them for later, so you don’t have to make snap decisions about items anymore. Now that you can hold items, you can drop items and trade with others if you play multiplayer. You can also sell those items in town for gold.
Remember Descent? Remember sticking your flightstick to your desk with sunction cups so you could fly around and find keys and shoot stuff with lazers. No you don’t because you’re a kid. Old people remember, and old people make video games. So we get roguelike descent…amazing…
Just had an insane run in Skyshine’s BEDLAM. I was topped off on resources, full of veterans, even had some elites left alive. Gave me a good outlook on what a successful run is supposed to be comprised of. The knee jerk “ZOMG DIS GAME IS TOO RNG” really isn’t warranted here.
Real problem I had was hitting BEDLAM. Mobs everywhere in combat maps. Ended up running out of energy because I had to use so many of the Dozer weapons.
Rising Thunder is unbelievably good. It comes out of nowhere at EVO, and then the Alpha begins soon after.
Now this Alpha runs better than most fighting games that have ever existed. Which makes sense since it’s developed by the guy who founded the EVO tournament, and his twin brother who developed GGPO, which is crazy good netcode for stuff, I honestly never really looked up what it actually does, because it fucking works. GGPO has always been incredible netcode stuff, that’s all I’ve ever cared about. So if you like fighting games, sign up for the Alpha, you will probably get in shortly after signing up, and can jump in and enjoy the game.
Coin Crypt suddenly is getting a crazy amount of updates. It’s awesome, and completely unexpected. I’ve had the game since around when it came out, and just figured they made a game and were done. Nope, suddenly updates everywhere.
Listen people. Those 4 X’s are eXplore. eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. That’s it, that’s why they are called 4X games.
You know what none of that stands for, eXpeace, eXbuddies, eXhomies, eXdiplomacy…none of those fucking things. IGN is upset about Stardrive 2 being about exterminating all of your enemies.
